I think the single dumbest phrase in military history is ‘our diversity is our strength.’ I think our strength is our unity, our strength is our shared purpose, regardless of our background, how we grew up, our gender (or) our race. In this department, we will treat everyone equally.
Defense Secretary Hegseth (address at Pentagon town hall)
I applaud America First for realizing Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) was ruining our military (fewer recruits), schoolrooms (lower test scores) and workplaces (alienated workers). Everyday Americans could see that DEI was antithetical to the American Dream (opportunity for all) and E Pluribus Unum (out of many, one), which is one (big) reason Kamala Harris is NOT president.
I applaud President Trump for obliterating DEI funds, DEI managers and departments, and DEI policies and programs. Because this is a sharp-elbowed world – Honduras bans all abortions, the Japanese won’t embrace multi-ethnicity, and Turkey is hostile to the LGBTQ community – where existing cultures eat new policies for breakfast.
Advance Unity and Team-Building
“Diversity” is the situation in today’s America; the result of 400 years of racial diversification by settlement (Anglo-Americans), emancipation (African-Americans) and immigration (everybody else) that created the world’s largest economy, more racial and religious diversity than in China, India and Russia, and the world’s #1 destination for migrants (source: World Bank).
“Unity” is a choice for today’s Americans. The reality on the ground is that America is both diverse and desirable. The challenge is Unity; being diverse without division. Secretary Hegseth is 100% right that “our strength is our shared purpose” because that’s what defeated Nazi Germany and beat the USSR to the moon. Thus, it is irresponsible for the world’s top migrant destination to not insist on assimilation (AKA team building) – starting with the DEI activists in Congress.
Rather than deport Ilhan Omar (D-MN), make her tour America’s high school gyms to see thousands of immigrant kids happily running wind sprints with their teammates, and force her to watch ESPN to see Duke’s multi-racial student body happily united behind their basketball team. Because Ms. Omar’s problem is not that she hates America, it’s that she does not know America – and has never been part of a T-E-A-M.
Promote Opportunity and Risk-Taking
Equity was a Harris talking point – race-based laws and regulations to offset systemic oppression – and she lost the three blackest states (FL, GA, TX) by more than Biden. Opportunity was a Trump hallmark, and he won more votes from black (+9 points) and Hispanic (+16 points) men than in 2020. Because everyday Americans knew “equity” meant shoving 87% of America aside to benefit 13% of its people.
Equity was a political dud because America’s largest minority (Hispanics) was happily assimilating in the “land of opportunity,” its fastest-growing minority (Asians) had the highest test scores and incomes, and its racial majority (Whites) believed “equal opportunity” was quite enough to protect every American’s pursuit of happiness. This was lost on the Harris campaign, which created the Agenda For Black Men. Get a load of just two of its very bad ideas.
- A million fully forgivable $20,000 loans to black men to start businesses
- No college-degree requirements for 500,000 federal jobs
Patronizing black men with loans (wink-wink) nobody’s repaying and jobs nobody’s earned would cripple them – and America – for life. Because requiring loans to be repaid ensures entrepreneurs think twice about their business ideas, and college degrees ensure the FAA is not putting Forest Gump into the control tower. The guess here is that 77.3 million Americans agree with this logic, and voted against Harris.
Celebrate Competition and Winning
Trump, despite his many flaws, won because he talked non-stop about creating a competitive advantage for the USA and its citizens. From energy dominance to schools that lift inner-city kids out of poverty. From AI dominance to Elon Musk reducing the national debt. That’s the inclusion that JFK meant by saying a rising tide lifts all boats. That’s the winning JFK had in mind when he challenged the U.S. Marines to walk 50 miles in 20 hours.
DEI inclusion means American children play “scoreless games” and win “participation trophies” in youth soccer to protect the feelings of the weaker and slower kids; thereby defeating the purpose of playing competitive sports. 80 years ago, General George S. Patton spoke the unvarnished truth: “Americans love a winner. Americans will not tolerate a loser. Americans despise cowards. Americans play to win all of the time.” And that, dear reader, is America’s comparative advantage over most of the world.
Identity Politics Is Divisive – and Lost
77.3 million citizens voted against the mad-liberalism exemplified by Rep. Ayannna Pressley (D-MA) re-introducing a slave-reparations bill, Worcester (MA) LGBTQ+ activists getting their city council to create a transgender sanctuary city, and Liz Cheney re-posting this tweet: “If you don’t support Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, find the courage to tell us which word you oppose, or keep your racist, homophobic, sexist thoughts inside your own head.”
Ok, Liz, how about these facts: 72% of voters say their workplace is already diverse, 91% of Americans believe in “equal opportunity” for everyone, regardless of race, and 75% of voters say “merit should determine” admissions and hiring (source: Pew Research and Public Agenda Research). And, here’s what voters oppose: 79% against transgenders in girls sports, 70% against reparations, and 77% (including 68% of Blacks) say too many accuse others of “racism”
America’s racial and religious majorities are tired of being blamed for others’ woes, and having “social justice” funded by their paycheck. Mostly because they believe Dr. King’s dream was realized in 2008, when Barack Obama won the largest share of white votes for a Democrat in a two-man race since 1976 (source: Politico). Moreover, his 2012 re-election proved just how “color blind” America had become in two generations.
Sadly, the Democrat Party does not get this, because the DNC’s leadership just blamed “racism and misogyny” for Harris’ defeat, in spite of 2024 exit polls suggesting the exact opposite. Compared to Biden, Harris fell 4 points with women, and 14 points with Asians and Hispanics. She held steady with white men, and gained 2 points with white women (source: AP/NORC). So, where’s their proof?
Blowing in the wind – – because Trump’s most recent approval rating is 54% (source: Rasmussen).
