If Rip Van Republican woke up in Washington today, he’d be shocked by Trump’s tariffs on Canadian oil and gas, tut-tut 51 former intelligence officials getting banned from secure federal facilities, and be mind-boggled by how un-shocked everyday Americans seem. Seriously, a Reagan-Bush Republican would think Trump’s shock-and-awe firings and mandates were dangerously destabilizing.
Until everyday folks showed old Rip how New York ignored its crumbling infrastructure to fund illegal aliens, Los Angeles defunded its fire department right before wildfire season, Chicago loosed convicted criminals onto its streets, and Joe Biden buried the US under a mountain of debt ($36.4 trillion) – and that was just at home.
Elsewhere, ten countries are trying to replace the US dollar with a BRICs currency, China’s new AI (DeepSeek-R1) threatens US tech dominance, Mexico won’t stop criminal cartels from annually trafficking $70 billion in illegal drugs (and countless indentured women and children) into the US, and Russia’s hyper-sonic missile (3M22 Zircon) threatens Europe. Then, Rip would have his aha! moment.
Trump has to “flood the zone” to overwhelm America First opponents – Democrats, DC bureaucrats, EU monocrats, and UN spongers – forcing them to expend time and energy litigating, negotiating, and sucking up. If they stop 25% of Trump’s agenda, America First still wins and, in time, good ole Rip will realize big problems take big people with big solutions.
A Country Our Parents Would Recognize
Obama racialists and Biden socialists have so screwed up America, “old school” incrementalism won’t work. “Principled conservatives” like Chris Christie and “reasonable centrists” like Nikki Haley are no match for Adam Schiff and Nancy Pelosi. Trump learned this in his first term, which is why he rebuilt his 2024 coalition with “dissident Democrats” like RFK-JR and “tech right” leaders like Elon Musk (source: City Journal).
America First is first and foremost restoring common sense, free speech, and limitations on government power, requiring “tough love” to restore the country our parents and grandparents could even recognize. Arresting sidewalk druggies, deporting illegal aliens, and saying “no” to transgenders are messy affairs, but democratic principles support the return of opportunity (not equity) and social tolerance (not indulgence) as the bedrock of the American Dream.
If you want out of control, then it was the split-tongued Biden-Harris’s trampling of democratic ideals. Biden was elected in 2020 only because he won 87% of Blacks (who are 75% Christian) and 65% of Hispanics (who are 76% Christian). Then, after four years of promoting every transgender whim but refusing to protect church-going individuals and respect nuclear families, Harris lost in 2024 after a 6-point drop with Blacks and 10-point drop with Hispanics. Duh!
There are two reasons DEI departments are shrinking everywhere, Facebook sacked its fact-checkers (censors), and DOGE has already cut $48.8 billion in federal waste. One, woke-liberalism was a bad idea (two-thirds of Asians and Hispanics support merit-based admissions and hiring – not quotas). Two, Democrats had crazy spending priorities (e.g. $50 million to provide condoms to Gaza).
What we have here is a bring me a switch moment for left-liberal bureaucrats and Democrats; who’ve so malfunctioned and misbehaved, they’re lucky it was just Trump’s re-election, and not 77.3 million citizens screaming take them to the Bastille or send them to the guillotine last November.
A Country That Is Great Again
Clinton globalists so screwed up the world – America’s neither respected nor feared – Trump realists must smack so-called allies (Canada) and long-time enemies (Iran) to their senses. Obama (left $22.7 trillion national debt) and Biden (left $35.4 trillion national debt) so screwed up the US economy, Trump inherited a turn-around situation. Who knows if he can do it, but try he must.
What Trump knows is that if the US tumbles, no nation will lend a hand to Americans (and Democrats will re-try socialism). He sees a UN filled with sh*thole countries that resent America’s sphere of influence (750 military bases in 80 different countries). He sees an economy under duress: more employed by government (24.7M) than manufacturing (12.8M), government spending ($12.1T) higher than tax receipts ($9.7T), too much government fraud (GAO estimates $223-521B), and too much regulatory cost (NAM estimates $3.1T).
Nobody knows for sure if Trump’s shock and awe agenda is a panacea, but common sense gives many hope. Won’t building America’s energy dominance, reducing government costs and regulations make America the “best place” to invest money and manufacture things? Won’t building the wall, deporting criminal aliens, and utilizing the US military secure the southern border?
Won’t building the Iron Dome, getting control of the Panama Canal, and making the US military more lethal deter China and Russia? Won’t filling the DOJ and FBI with crime-fighters, firing woke-leftist prosecutors, hiring more police, and siccing the Marines on Mexico’s cartels make us safer?
Who doesn’t want a Golden Age for America to begin with her 250th birthday? Nobody, which is why, in spite of the Sturm und Drang of Trump’s first two weeks, Insider Advantage’s real-time tracking has Trump’s approval at 56%.
