Joe Biden ascended to the highest office in America with a pledge to unite the country, strengthen his party and defend democracy. Instead, in the 82-year-old’s Oval Office denouement, he leaves a nation divided, a party in tatters, and the American people questioning [his] respect for the rule of law.
NBC News (January 16, 2025)
Democrats – and their questions for Trump’s cabinet picks – sounded beaten in last week’s Senate hearings. After attacking Trump for eight years to no avail, and four years of Joe Biden, they know their plight is much worse than the 2024 election defeat. Clinton-style globalism, Obama-style culturalism, and Bidenomics will be dismantled; replaced by America First, Families First and Trumponomics. Now, Biden is being slow-clapped by his own party out of the White House.
Democrat analyst James Carville says, “The Joe Biden story is one of the great tragedies of American politics. He should be having a glorious, well deserved, highly acclaimed retirement. And he’s not. It’s hard to blame anybody but him.” And most Democrats do, criticizing the lame-duck president for staying too long in office, pardoning his son, and dismissing voters’ worries about inflation, immigration, and his mental acuity (source: NBC News).
Carville went on to muse about “an alternate universe” in which Biden stepped aside as the Democratic nominee in 2023, rode waves of accolades in his final weeks, cut ribbons at airports named in his honor, and banked hundreds of millions for an Ivy League policy center in his name. “Joe Biden had many successful acts in his life. Unfortunately, you get remembered for your last act. Right now, he’s remembered as the guy who stayed too long.”
Mostly, Democrats blame Biden for making Trump possible – twice! CNN’s Scott Jennings (R-KY) cited this last week in his take on Biden’s legacy: “When he was vice president, he and Obama ushering in the Trump era initially. And as he’s leaving office as president, bringing back Trump and Trumpism stronger and more popular than ever.”
Biden’s legacy is awful (34% job approval) because he betrayed his “return to normalcy” promise that voters understood to mean center-left linear thinking (i.e. sticking to established formulas, patterns and rules). What voters got was sticking to the formula of regulating free speech, seeing patterns of racism in every GOP position, and following the rules of the EU, UN, and WHO. But, nowhere was Biden’s betrayal worse than cramming DEI (Diversity, Equity and Inclusion) down America’s throat.
Thanks to Biden, DEI turned Democrats into the Pity Party; aggrieved identity groups trying to circumvent merit-based advancement, blaming others for their lack of success and accolades, and not accepting the true nature of national identity. No question, Bidenomics hurt Harris on Election Day, but the silent killer was that she was the face of DEI; promoted beyond her ability because Joe Biden promised left-liberals a black vice president (and supreme-court justice).
I’m sorry this reads so mean, but the Democrat Party is in tatters because it allowed Joe Biden to shame America’s cultural mainstream, and the payback was its worst presidential defeat in 20 years. They’ve no one but themselves to blame because James Carville warned their “preachy females” to STOP saying that Christian nationalism, toxic masculinity, and white supremacy were the “real threats” to democracy.
They did not, and in the closing weeks, Barack, Kamala, and Oprah doubled down; resulting in Harris losing decisively, and Trump increasing his percentage of the popular vote from 2020 in all 50 states and Washington, D.C. The table up top (based on NEP exit polls) explains how this happened: Trump got lots of votes from massive voting blocs, while Harris got almost all the votes from small voting blocs.
Honest observers of the last four years predicted the cultural backlash against Biden-Harris; who supported renaming and tearing down monuments to America’s ancient greats, spying on Catholics in Richmond (VA), and forcing straight schoolgirls to share bathrooms and locker rooms with transgender boys. The relief from Harris’s loss is palpable in most corners of America, because Biden’s DEI was the worst idea since LBJ sent 18-year-old boys to Vietnam.
I’m not surprised a CRFB poll found 72% of Americans are proud of their country’s history, because 71% of Americans are of European heritage (source: USCB). Not surprised that Pew Research found 72% of Americans believe their country is exceptional, because the US has been the top destination for international migrants since 1974 (source: UNSD). Not surprised corporations are dumping DEI, because 69% of Americans support gay marriage, and 67% are practicing Christians (source: Gallup).
My last word on Joe Biden is to expose HIS BIG LIE. He was never a 60s civil-rights activist because he would have emulated what worked for Dr. King; guilting the majority (you MADE a mistake) to help a minority. But no – Biden shamed majorities (you ARE a mistake) and hurt a minority. This is true, because 67% of Democrats now think transgender athletes should not be allowed to compete with women (source: New York Times).
Dishonest and divisive is no way to get one’s name on an airport or Ivy League building, but it’s a surefire way to rank among the worst presidents in U.S. history.
