Elon Musk wasn’t elected by anybody, yet he’s exercising his authority over Trump and House Republicans. It’s a dangerous start to this next Trump administration.
Rep. Gabe Amo (D-RI)
Democrats (and their media cronies) are so demoralized, they’re starting to sound desperate; like saying (1) Donald Trump’s “oath-breaking insurrection” makes him “ineligible to be president” and (2) Elon Musk “is basically the fourth branch of government.” A friend of mine calls them “the party of stupid” and dumb declarations (read above) are why the GOP is registering new members at a torrid pace.
No joke, a Monmouth poll found 92% of voters said the January 6 Committee’s report had “no bearing on their opinion” of Trump, and Cygnal’s found 60% of Americans support the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). Still, the topper is that, despite 67% of Americans supporting deportation, Democrat governors and mayors keep saying they’ll shield illegal aliens from federal authorities.
Really? The bitterness after Trump took Harris to the toolshed on Election Day, and anxiety after the world’s most consequential inventor (Musk) tweeted to millions about government waste, is one thing. But putting the interests of foreigners (who snuck across the border) before job-seeking, law-abiding and tax-paying US citizens – what’s next, support for Hamas? Oops, that’s on the Stupid Punch List too!
Please, someone make them stop, because Elon Musk informing voters and cutting government waste is how our Republic lasts another 250 years. When he tweeted about a pork-filled spending bill (that read like Democrats had swept the 2024 elections), it roused 208.7 million followers on Twitter-X to blast the House GOP, which responded with a common-sense bill that got bipartisan support.
You want stupid? Get a load of Rep. Annie Kuster’s (D-NH) beef with Musk: “He’s not American. He doesn’t know about our democracy. He doesn’t know about our processes.” Except the new stopgap funding bill passed 366-34-1 in the House and 85-11 in the Senate, proving Mr. Musk very much knows about “our democracy” and “our processes.”
Democrats are just miffed to be on the outside looking in at a former Democrat, Musk, whom their policies sent running to Trump. They moan about his campaign millions, but what they REALLY HATE is the diminished power over we the people that was cited in the Washington Post last week: “Musk’s influence on X eclipses all members of the incoming Congress combined.”
That’s right, he has more Twitter-X followers than the entirety of Congress, and THAT is why the fear and loathing from Democrats are so palpable. Don’t scoff. Read what the left has to say about Elon [BTW, the far right is just as wrong to attack his H-1B visa tweets].
Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-MD): “A lot of the Republicans are pushing for him to become speaker of the House, which might be a demotion for him because he’s basically the fourth branch of the government.”
NPR: “Elon Musk holds no elected office – but was able to sink a spending plan.“
Rep. Maxwell Frost (D-FL): “If this is the type of power he has, then he is going to be the unelected co-president of this country.”
The Guardian: “Elon Musk showcases grip on Washington by impeding spending bill.”
Isn’t this the same crowd that was ecstatic when Obama had 131.2 million Twitter followers that he engaged by the millions to make small donations to his campaign, and by the tens of millions to turn out to vote for him and his party? You bet they are, and it was only after Trump tweeted his way in 2016 to victory over Clinton that social media became the “mine of misinformation” Democrats and Big Media censored in 2020.
Let them be demoralized. Like southern Blacks forced by Jim Crow Dixiecrats into churches to speak freely. Like Trump’s campaigns robbed of votes by the Clinton campaign (Trump-Russia hoax) and Biden campaign (Biden Laptop cover-up). Like RFK-JR getting stonewalled by the DNC. History finally caught up to the Democrat Party last November, and Kamala learned Karma’s a b!tch.
Back to Musk, who saw the 1500-page stopgap funding billed rushed to a vote, recalled Nancy Pelosi’s imperious explanation of Obamacare (“we have to pass the bill so that you can find out what is in it”), and reacted. To be sure, he got some details wrong, but his call-to-arms prevented deficits and waste (funding for a new NFL stadium) that would be blamed on Trump.
You want stupid? Partying like it’s 2009 after Musk has announced Congress will have a new watchdog (Grok AI) in 2025. Months ago, he tweeted that Grok Artificial Intelligence would decode mammoth bills, simplify the complex language, and provide the public with a summary days before Congress votes to pass the legislation. Suddenly, our democracy will be disinfected by sunlight!
Who needs The New York Times when Grok AI allows pending legislation to be quickly analyzed and reported by thousands of “citizen journalists” on Twitter-X, and discussed by hundreds of podcasters? Nobody!
Who needs explanations from Nancy Pelosi, when every member of Congress is putting forth informed objections and suggestions? Nobody!
Who needs K Street, when any small business can lobby its elected representative in real time? Nobody!
Transparency. Explanations. Empowerment. It’s what’s next, and The Swamp is feeling kind of blue…
Oh, nobody knows you
