Many of us know that it’s impossible for [Trump] to be president again.

Nancy Pelosi (January 12, 2024, on CNN)

In July 2015, Democrats and Big Media saw Donald Trump as a surefire loser because only 22.7% of voters approved of him (Source: Real Clear Politics). Today, almost ten years later, 54% of voters approve of president-elect Trump (source: Morning Consult). Who’s the loser now? With a 6-3 conservative Supreme Court and both chambers of Congress, it sure as hellfire isn’t Trump.

It’s probably the party that Bill Clinton slammed for not paying attention to “people who feel left out and left behind in small towns and rural areas,” that Jen Psaki acknowledged was “lost in the wilderness,” that Brian Williams advised “to be stripped down and rebuilt” (source: MSNBC). When the signs are everywhere, it kinda-sorta proves the Democrat Party is mostly dead.

Like voters expressing enmity toward lame ducks Biden (32% approval) and Harris (39% approval) and their failed policies. Democrats just absorbed their worst presidential-election loss since 1988. Harris won 6,900,000 fewer popular votes than Biden, lost 31 states and 312 electoral votes, and AP was able to call the the race within hours of the polls closing.

Like Democrat strongholds rejecting woke-liberalism, and losing voters. Los Angeles and SanFrancisco booted a “woke” DA and mayor, respectively. Harris lost voters Biden won in 2020; down 2,100,000 in California, down 846,000 in New York, down 415,000 in Illinois, and down 386,000 New Jersey. Most telling, perhaps, was the absence of Antifa or Black Lives Matter protesting Trump’s re-election.

Mostly dead is being reduced to backbenchers in Congress and three voices on the Supreme Court, and awaiting a house-cleaning in the White House and administrative agencies. Democrats are so powerless that Mika and Morning Joe scurried to Mar a Lago to “restart communications” with the Republican president-elect. Oops – too late to start a new Resistance or even look relevant.

It is hard to make a cake rise twice when voters have turned off CNN and MSNBC (which Comcast is spinning off), Bill Clinton is estranged from woke Democrats, Barack Obama is estranged from working-class Democrats, only 35% of voters approve of Chuck Schumer, just 33% approve 0f Hakeem Jeffries, and a Family Feud is about to erupt in the battle for the party’s 2028 presidential nomination.

Democrats are promising to “fight like hell” to regain power, but their election problem is not their will. Their EKG is flat-lining because voters know it is impossible to support native-born Blacks AND Latinos here illegally, female athletes AND transgenders, US factory workers AND free trade – you get the idea. These contradictions resulted in almost every demographic shifting toward Trump’s America First movement in 2024.

Democrats must climb a steep hill, starting with the loss of young voters in 2024; Trump won 47% of voters aged 18-29 (up 11 points from 2020) and 53% of male voters aged 18-44 (up 8 points from 2020). Come 2030, Texas and Florida gain four new House seats apiece (source: The American Redistricting Project). That’s eight more electoral votes from states where Republicans added 441,000 votes (FL) and 487,000 votes (TX) from 2020 to 2024.

On second thought, the Democrat Party is not just nearly dead – or even merely dead. By their own hand, Democrats are really most sincerely dead. By targeting one man, and running against their version of him, they missed the 77 million (and growing) voters uniting behind Trump. Hearing Democrats’ post-election excuses – e.g. low-information voters, racism, rise of right-wing media, and sexism – don’t expect a resurrection of the party any time soon.

Trump has been one step ahead of Democrats for one year and shows no sign of slowing down. Take his response to Morning Joe’s co-hosts visit to Mar a Lago: “I’m not looking for retribution or to destroy people who treated me very unfairly. I [feel] an obligation to the American public to be open and available to the press.” That’s magnanimous and quite new from Trump.

While Democrats sharpened their knives for the attorney-general confirmation hearings, Trump replaced Matt Gaetz with Pam Bondi, Florida’s former attorney general (and the AG Republicans wanted all along). Further, Trump’s appointments will end up looking like America (Asians, Blacks, Gays, Hispanics, and Women) without making a DEI statement. Spoiler alert: you will hear crickets from the left about Treasury Secretary Bessent’s gay marriage.

Democrats are now in a multi-front war without the resources to save their deep state allies. They hold no gavels in Congress and cannot turn to a liberal Supreme Court. The Department of Government Efficiency is powerful and too new for deep state “anonymous sources” to subvert its mission. DOGE is set up so that a mid-level “leaker” will learn what Elon and Vivek are planning from their weekly For The People podcast.

Which is to say Adam Schiff, The New York Times, and CNN will get breaking news from Twitter X, and Thomas Friedman and Jake Tapper will get their sit-down interviews after the GOP has explained its position to Tucker Carlson, Megyn Kelly and Joe Rogan.

Suddenly, those once striving for a uni-party are waking up in a no-party.
