As a group, you witnessed how bad leaders, who don’t stay in their lane, can have a negative impact on society. Our nation is led by a man who publicly proclaims his Catholic faith, but at the same time is delusional enough to make the Sign of the Cross during a pro- abortion rally.
Harrison Butker (Benedictine graduation speech)
A Catholic recently asked my take on the “woke” reaction to NFL kicker Harrison Butker’s graduation speech at a small Catholic college. Initially, relief that pro-Hamas brats hadn’t ruined another graduation; but upon reflection, never have so few done so little for the truly needy in America.
Tune out the Intersectional Left (AKA the woke) because they subjectively select oppressors and victims for the Democrat Party. A woman is a “victim” of a straight man’s unwanted attention but not a transgender’s jiggling genitalia in the GIRLS room. A Jewish woman is a “victim” of a hate crime when gunned down by a white man in Pittsburgh but not when raped and decapitated by a Palestinian man in Israel.
Winter is coming for the Woke (maybe with Trump) because large numbers of Americans can see they are (1) delusional, (2) increasingly extreme, (3) distracting America’s leaders from real problems, and (4) just a splinter of a movement. Go on social media for a dose of “woke” delusion: they think 500 likes of an anti-Christian post is reality (no, 500 people at your funeral is reality).
Fretting over a Catholic’s speech in Atchison, Kansas, is paranoia, especially when the “threat” is reassuring female graduates about “marriage and the children you will bring into this world.” Not exactly breaking news in a country where 83% of women get married, 86% of women have a child by their mid-40s, 95% of the citizens are heterosexual, and 247 million people go to church (source: Statista). The “woke” can’t handle the truth.
So they counter by noting young voters are “less traditional” now – when every generation drifts right with age – and ignore the 2022 General Social Survey, because it found married men and women were happier than their unmarried cohorts, fathers and mothers were happier than their childless cohorts, and married dads and moms were the happiest of all Americans. Did I mention the “woke” can’t handle the truth?
It is extreme to ignore government-provided data but attack a speaker (Butker) for saying the quiet truth out loud. But the “woke” are meant to be extreme: the shock troops of identity politics who sustain causes by habitually inflating problems and increasing demands. To wit, the 70s women’s lib movement now proclaims women don’t need men to be happy and demands late-term abortions. The 80s gay rights movement is now LGBTQ demands for once-men to compete in girls sports.
Mr. Butker did criticize the Biden administration for pushing “dangerous gender ideologies onto the youth of America,” which Butker knows in blue states includes funding sex-transitions – from man to woman requires at least six surgeries – with a 15% failure rate (source: National Institute of Health). As Khrushchev predicted, America is now falling victim to self-imposed problems.
Thanks to DEI Deans and VPs providing the platform, minority-group students and employees now bully majority-group students and employees. Competition, fairness and merit have been kicked to the curb. Nowhere is it worse than public school LGBTQ policies. It is a fact that most parents in the US accept non-binary teachers but oppose “gender ideology” being pushed onto young students in school.
It’s an issue plumbed by many polls and surveys. Turns out we’re not a nation of haters:
- 80% of voters support LGBTQ anti-discrimination laws, including 66% of Republicans (source: PRRI)
- 92% of LGBTQ Americans say “society is more accepting” (source: Pew Research)
- 78% of Americans oppose lessons on sex and gender until 4th grade (source: HarrisX)
Based on that data, Biden should tell his LGTBQ constituents you have to admit it’s getting better, rather than divide his party in an election year. The President knows the political home for LGBTQ voters is the Progressive Wing (12%) of the Democrat Party, which has only 38.4% of all registered voters; therefore, progressives are just 5% of the US electorate (source: Pew Research).
Biden now trails Trump by 12.5 points in the Real Clear Politics betting average (a reliable indicator). Still, even if he ekes out victory, the “woke sliver” is a long-term problem for Democrats. The planet will lose 1.9 billion people to a Baby Bust by 2100 (source: WHO). The lone exception to the problem in the USA are households with traditional values (source: USCB and BLS):
- Asians and Latinos – traditional by custom – are the majority of US immigrants
- 51,561,000 children are being raised by heterosexual couples, only 292,000 kids by same-sex couples
- 247 million church-goers have birth rates from 2.2 to 3.4 per household. 83 million atheists have birth rates of 1.45 per household

A data-filled post today, but important for conservatives, especially the religious, to consider. Conservative pundit Mark Steyn puts it simply: the future “belongs to those who show up.” If citizens with traditional values comprise more of the electorate, the woke will go the way of the Whigs.
