1. Then the Jews will hide behind rocks and trees, and the rocks and trees will cry out: “O Muslim, there is a Jew hiding behind me, come and kill him.”

The Hamas Covenant

How can Black Lives Matter, the Democratic Socialists of America, and the academic “decolonization” movement read The Hamas Covenant (above), know of the holocaust, see the pictures of butchered babies, murdered civilians, and raped women, and still cheer for Hamas? Because of the “intersectionality” thinking trap (all oppressed groups must defeat a common oppressor) that presumes all achievers are tyrants, a presumption that is essential to the anti-racist and decolonization theories being taught in America’s schools.

An American who blames Israeli citizens for their own deaths and kidnappings is unrecognizable to most of us over 60, as is the Harvard where 30 “woke” students signed an open letter blaming Israel for October 7: “We, the undersigned student organizations, hold the Israeli regime entirely responsible for all unfolding violence; the apartheid regime is the only one to blame.” On cue, Harvard’s president refused to “cancel” her students’ right to free speech.

Let us defend a donor’s right to impose consequences: billionaire alumnus Bill Ackman and “a number of CEOs” asked Harvard for the names of its student organizations to ensure “none of us inadvertently hire any of their members.” That’s right, Harvard’s achievers want to cancel graduates whose “activism” betrays the do-good “liberalism” of Harvard’s Felix Frankfurter (ACLU founder), W.E.B. DuBois (NAACP founder), and Alan Dershowitz (strict constitutionalist).

Harvard is now Intersectionality Crackpot Central, where Elie Mystal (calls America’s founding fathers “racist, misogynist jerk-faces”) and the late Saeb Erekat (secretary general of the PLO’s executive committee) are free to preach and teach their anti-racist and decolonize views. How in the heck did America’s elite institutions ever get this crazy? Too much to explain here, but start in the 60s.

Today’s mad-liberal elites are a hangover from the sixties: some anti-war and civil-rights activists just couldn’t move on with their lives after the Vietnam War ended and civil rights laws were enacted. Nope, some elected to monetize social justice, pushing social experiments at NGO jobs that your tax dollars fund. Others are re-educating your kids and grandkids from endowed gigs that your alumni giving and tuition payments fund.

Look at how the Ford Foundation, Carnegie Commission, and UCLA have tracked the hiring of liberals and firing of conservatives at US colleges since 1969 (see table below).

YEAR LIBERAL CONSERVATIVE
1969 46% 28%
1997 57% 24%
2014 60% 12%

Inside Higher Ed says don’t blame the parents, who dropped off perfectly fine freshmen in 2018 (42% moderates, 36% liberals, and 22% conservative) at colleges to be indoctrinated by far-left pedants (66% liberals, 25% moderates, and only 5% conservatives). Voila! I give you Trump Derangement Syndrome; young anti-fascists at Stop-Trump riots in 2016, and young anti-racists at Stop-Police riots in 2020. Hardly peaceful – but were they right?

When black legislators, college kids, and young women protested Trump’s 2016 election by boycotting his inaugural, skipping exams, and marching in pink pussy hats, they never imagined he’d usher in a 38% drop in black unemployment, 5% drop in black murders, get the US out of endless wars, and increase federal tax receipts 5.8%. Or that the women’s unemployment rate would drop 25%, and legal abortions would increase 1%. Oops!

When the “mostly peaceful protests” in 2020 resulted in disciplined cops and defunded police departments, Black Lives Matter had no idea black fatalities from police shootings would increase 6%, rising crime would be made real by videos of smash-and-grab mobs, and black overdose deaths would rise 27.7% (source: Kaiser Family Foundation).

The point here is twofold. One, the far-left proved it had no recipe for a “better” anything. Two, everyday Americans questioned who the “bad guys” were out there. Was it Donald Trump or Adam Schiff? Brett Kavanaugh or Christine Blasey Ford? That Catholic kid from Kentucky or the adults at the Washington Post? The armed Korean shopkeeper or the hoodie-wearing looters? And, many saw what “monetizing social justice” looked like by following the money.

Last month, Boston University opened an inquiry into how anti-racist author and professor Ibram X. Kendi “squandered $43 million” and laid off “almost all” of his “antiracist research” center’s staff (source: WSWS). In 2021 – one year after collecting $90 million, granting $26 million, and expensing $38 million – Black Lives Matter was hit with allegations of misappropriating funds ($2.1M to one director for “consulting”), and only collected $9.2 million (source: IRS).

Good money should not fund bad ideas – like hiring students or retaining employees who celebrated Hamas’s barbarism – and a handful of right-thinking Americans have responded:

  • Winston & Strawn rescinded its job offer to NYU Law’s Hamas-cheering Ryna Workman
  • Expert MRI fired radiologist Andrew Thierry for his “disturbing, antisemitic” tweets
  • Davis Polk rescinded job offers to three anti-Semitic law students
  • Citigroup fired banker Nozima Husainova for posting “ no wonder Hitler wanted to get rid of them”
  • DHS fired Nejwa Ali for celebrating Hamas barbarism (with cute emojis) on Instagram

There is no “silver lining” to the horror in Israel – innocent citizens were massacred and citizen soldiers now go to war – unless Democrat presidents stop appeasing Iran, and college presidents stop condoning anti-Semitism. If there are any doubts about Hamas, The Christian Post reports what a Rabbinate medic saw preparing Israeli bodies for burial.

“We try to bring them dignity in death, but what I have seen here is mass rape so brutal they broke the pelvis of women, grandmothers, children…heads cut off, faces blasted off, heads smashed and brains spilling out, a baby cut out of a pregnant woman and both beheaded, (and) women and children burned to charcoal.”

No good American can cheer that.
