The President has declared that science and common sense no longer matter. In opposing this bill, President Biden is catering to a radical minority at the expense of women, who are 51% of the population.

Riley Gaines (former All-American swimmer)

We Boomers left our children an open and tolerant culture, which Democrats are dismantling through identity politics. It’s hard to believe they mean well. Seriously, must lifting a black life shame a white life, or validating a transgender athlete disadvantage a girl? No, because that’s not the legacy of Dr. King or Edith Green. I think I’m right to call BS, because…

I saw my southern boarding school integrate in 1967 – and send black classmates to Harvard and Princeton. I saw David Bowie bring queer culture into the social mainstream in 1974 – and witnessed friends come out and live happily ever after. I befriended women in my industry in the early 80s – and saw them become leaders and/or owners of successful companies. And (drum roll, please) Fox News hired Caitlyn Jenner last year.

Rather than indulging aggrieved minorities, shouldn’t the goal be assimilating into the Great American Melting Pot (the world’s top destination for refugees, still). Rather than giving transgenders hollow victories like Justice Jackson and Secretary Cardona refusing to define “woman” for Republicans in Congress, shouldn’t Democrats heed Obama’s 2019 advice against “ideological purity” and accept peaceable coexistence, because…

Gallup reports 86% of America supports a gay’s right to perform in public, 84% support hiring gay college professors, and 71% support same-sex marriage. But, only 24% support transgender females on girl’s teams (source: NPR). In other words, Americans don’t want to keep LGBTQ artists and teachers away from their teenagers. They want their teenage girls to enjoy competition and know the thrill of victory.

President Biden’s threat to veto the Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act forced female swimmer Riley Gaines to say the quiet part out loud; Dems in Congress support a woman’s right to abort this man’s baby and ruin that man’s reputation, but oppose a girl’s right to safe spaces and fair competition. In return for standing up for women, Gaines is called “transphobic” by liberal media.

Suffice it to note Gaines didn’t condemn William Thomas’s transition to Lia Thomas. She called transgender activists a “radical minority” for trying to cross barriers that protect 167.5 million women. It is “radical” to make cisgender girls compete against superwomen. Transgenders are (maybe) 0.05% of the US population, and there ARE coed leagues. So, let’s get the ugly part out of the way; what’s behind Lia Thomas’s NCAA gender switch?

Critics point to Thomas underwhelming for three years in the men’s division (200-yd freestyle rank: 554th) before topping the women’s division as a senior (500-yd freestyle rank: 1st). Thomas didn’t swim faster (00.22 second slower time in the 100-yd freestyle), so her success is like a heavyweight wrestler’s wins in the flyweight division (not allowed). Follow the science. If a PED-advantaged man cannot compete in the NFL, then a testosterone-advantaged girl should not be able to compete in the NCAA women’s division.

Lia Thomas is not a member of Swimming USA, the governing body for competitive swimming, which cites data proving top-ranked woman “would rank much lower in male events across short and long swimming distances” and requires trans women to prove their puberty did not give them “a competitive advantage over the athlete’s cisgender female competitors” (source: NBC News).

This view is shared by the Women’s Liberation Front: “Women and girls deserve to play in athletic competitions that are fair and safe. Single-sex sports are critical to ensuring equal opportunity, scholarships, and careers, and new ‘gender identity’ policies threaten to set women back decades in progress.” If you don’t think competing in sports is as important to woman as it is to men, you’ve been under a rock the last 50 years. A lot has changed since 1972:

  • Girl’s participation in high schools sports is up 840%
  • Women’s participation in college sports is up 44%
  • Women have gone from 34% to 52% of college enrollment
  • 38 million women were added to the US workforce
  • Median woman’s wage has gone from $2,600 to $37,000
  • Average woman’s wage has gone from 35% of a man’s to 82%
  • US GDP has gone from $5.4 trillion to $19.4 trillion

Let me say the quiet economics part out loud. Women now hold or share control of finances in 90% of US households, meaning they are central to the US economy. Organized sports help girls toward their American Dream, their pursuit of which fuels American dynamism and American exceptionalism. Are we really going to trust the same crowd that defunded the police in Chicago to fiddle with women’s sports? Hopefully not, because…

Psychology Today reported two years ago: only 3% of straight men and 2% of straight women “would consider dating a trans individual” regardless of how the transgender presented. Further, 88% of gay men and 71% of lesbian women felt the same. Gender preferences and transitions are rooted in attraction and acceptance; so, can Democrats ensure Dylan Mulvaney (the Bud Light girl) will ever feel as attractive and accepted as a cisgender woman?

Hard to say, but they’re fighting billions of years of evolution, hundreds of years of cultural norms, and 330 million Americans dealing with their own issues. The harsh reality is transgender women are outliers – and not the first – whose cause will not be helped by Democrats refusing to say what a “woman” is and Lia Thomas trouncing cisgender girls in the NCAA “women’s division” championship.
