Left-wing identity politics has run aground, meaning the hierarchy of oppression has finally undone the Democrat Party. It once united aggrieved minorities into a voting coalition with fear-inducing shorthand (GOP is racist and sexist), until it devolved into a cottage industry of thousands of paid oppressionists; champions of isolated “victim” groups, each assuming party solidarity. This resulted in a divided party, saddled with voter-losing ideas and controlled by aggrieved elites.

Without a unifying “victim” message, Democrats are losing voters. When Black Lives Matter said “defund the police” to stop oppression, they scared away moderates. When the social-media generation re-posted extreme LGBTQIA influencers, they alienated black and brown Christians. When “woke” CEOs punished Georgia and Florida, they drove away blue-collar voters.

Follow the Money

Black Lives Matter created an embarrassing money trail that exposed “elite” leaders. In 2021, they bought a $6 million home in Southern California but only “provided $3 million to families struggling to navigate the impacts of COVID.” The optics angered much of their black support, eliciting a vow to “increase transparency” and “continue reshaping what radical philanthropy looks like for Black people.” What does that even mean?

It means a separate and autonomous entity, the Black Lives Matter Global Network Foundation, can raise $90 million and spend $30 million in 2021, including the $6 million house. This was explained in a tweet: “Black creativity is vital to Black survival. Creator’s House provides space for Black folks to hone their craft as they see fit, outside systems of oppression in creative industries.” No wonder good and decent black donors are angry.

If You Ain’t for Biden, You Ain’t Black

When real racists exist, why does Jussie Smollett stage a hate crime? When Tim Scott and Nikki Haley are Republicans, why does Ibram X. Kendi claim the GOP is “grooming white kids in white supremacy” and advancing sexism in every election? Probably because schools and corporations pay him to prove they’re innocent of racism ($25,000 to conduct anti-racism lessons on ZOOM). It’s a paid gig, just like The Nation’s “social justice correspondent” Elie Mystal got paid to belittle Herschel Walker.

Walker is a Republican, so Mystal calls him “an animated caricature of a Black person drawn by white conservatives” and his campaign “a political minstrel show.” Mystal is outraged by the GOP “nominating black people for the US Senate in direct response to Warnock.” What’s social justice if not giving black Georgians the choice between a black liberal and black conservative? No wonder Walker leads Warnock 49% to 45%.

The Elite Got the Mine and the Latina Got the Shaft

A growing problem for Democrat leaders is not funding minorities that support them. Take Oregon’s 6th district, newly drawn by state Democrats to be 20% Latino. This made state legislator Andrea Salinas a shoo-in to be Oregon’s first Latina in Congress. With financial support from the Congressional Hispanic Caucus, in a district Biden won by 16 points and not yet targeted by Republicans, Democrat insiders expected Salinas to win.

Except Nancy Pelosi’s House Majority PAC threw its support to Carrick Flynn, a white man with no political experience. The Hispanic Caucus was outraged when it learned the PAC had poured $1 million into television ads for a first-time candidate. One strategist told Politico that “was f**king crazy [in] a highly competitive primary [involving] three women of color.” Suspicions grew. Turns out the PAC money came (in part) from Sam Bankman-Fried, the crypto-currency billionaire who backs candidates “who take a long-term view on policy planning.”

Politico outed the PAC’s long-term view: “the cryptocurrency industry seeks to increase its influence in Washington.” Thus, the identity message is now out with the middle-class Latina and in with the elite Georgetown professor. No wonder middle-class Dems are turned off by liberal elites.

Follow the Tumbling Numbers

Identity politics was always a forced marriage of un-aligned groups that don’t agree with every oppressionist on CNN and Twitter, especially after their “we’re doomed” messages grow old. Based on the latest data, the real doom is in the polls:

  • Only 32% of Latino voters say the Democratic party represents people like them (source: Ipsos). A record 103 Hispanic Republicans are running for the US House (source: NRCC).
  • Biden’s support from women voters has fallen from 66% to 49% (source: ABC). A record 253 Republican women now seek House seats (source: Politico)
  • 27% of black voters now support a Republican for Congress (source: WSJ). A record 80 black Republicans are running for the House (source: The Hill).

It was always going to happen, right?
