I’m trying to take a beat to digest the Rittenhouse verdict. My son just asked me how it’s possible that he didn’t get charged for anything. How is that possible? I don’t have an answer for him. The idea that someone could be out with a semi-automatic weapon, kill people, and walk is stunning. I look forward to hearing from the jury. This is a moment for them to explain how they came to their decision.

Where’s the social justice rage machine for what happened in Waukesha? Still raging against the “white supremacists” making America “unsafe” for aggrieved identity groups.

On Monday, Whoopi Goldberg said videos of a teen’s self-defense were just “excuses” and a jury’s decision didn’t change her opinion that “to me it’s murder.” AOC opposed “excessive bail [for] low-income defendants” and Rashida Tlaib proposed abolishing minimum sentencing laws. It must be awesome to be 100% right about everything (read that with dripping sarcasm).

Mark this moment, because the Moral Majority – the ones that voted out Democrats in Virginia this month – are comparing the good people of Waukesha to the rioters in the summer of 2020. A majority will conclude Waukesha is how civil society acts after unjust deaths: gathering in peaceful prayer rather than violent protest, burning candles instead of private property, and not screaming “racial injustice” because a black man mowed down white grandmothers. They’re grieving.

I’m sure law and order will be on the ballot in 2022, because progressive prosecutors have elevated “social justice” for a few over real justice for the many. Good luck with no bail arrests and no minimum sentencing, because Darrell Brooks was out on bond after arrest for running over his child’s mother, had a “repeat offender” rap sheet, and mowed down six (now dead) parade participants. Everyday Americans know right from wrong.

The moral majority is part of the super-majority (77%) who think George Floyd was “murdered” by a policeman (source: Morning Consult). But they are not part of the ever-shrinking minority (18%) that wants to defund the police (source: USA Today). They are the adults in the room who haven’t sanctified either George Floyd or Kyle Rittenhouse.

Read Maria Shriver’s tweet, because she exemplifies how America’s liberal elite view criminal justice. She has a double standard for the presumption of innocence. Uncle Ted rightly “walks” after drunk-driving a woman to her death and not reporting it to the police, but she cannot “digest the Rittenhouse verdict” after a jury acquittal. She might have been drinking and tweeting (I could be wrong).

She claims Rittenhouse “didn’t get charged with anything” when he was CHARGED with six felonies. She’s unaware of what came before the Magna Carta: proving one’s innocence and guilt decided by one’s lord liege. For 806 years, a jury of one’s peers has been the backbone of Anglo-American civilization. Civilization: it’s what’s been on display in Wisconsin the last few days.
