I do have a test today. It’s on European Socialism. I’m not European, nor do I plan on being European, so who gives a crap if they’re socialists? It still wouldn’t change the fact that I don’t own a car!
Ferris Bueller
Americans could laugh at communism and socialism in 1986, when Ferris Bueller’s Day Off hit theaters, because Ronald Reagan protected the world’s democracies and free markets. Already, Maggie Thatcher had buried socialism in the UK, and Pope John Paul II had inspired Christians to stand up to Russian proxies (Poland). Monty Python and Saturday Night Live pushed the limits of free speech, everybody got the joke and we said to ourselves, what a wonderful world!
But that was then, before America’s business and civic leaders had grown cozy with China trade and EU leftists. Which is to say the USA has grown so accepting of socialism, and cowed by communists, Washington no longer appreciates Reagan. To now stridently diss socialism is to risk being left off Obama’s 60th birthday guest list – akin to London’s smart set making the Hitler-obsessed Churchill persona non grata in the 1930s. Two big mistakes, right?
Democrats, especially, should remember Nikita Khrushchev’s 1950s prediction: “We will take America without firing a shot. We do not have to invade the U.S. We will destroy you from within.” Remember the domino theory and how Democrats waged the Cold War: communist Cuba survived JFK’s Bay of Pigs invasion, communist Vietnam outlasted LBJ, and Carter’s boycott did not save Afghans from Russia. A losing streak that invited them into a winnable war – against the GOP.
America has measurably drifted toward socialism. In 2019, 64% of Generation Z was at least “somewhat likely” to vote for a socialist candidate, compared to 36% of Baby Boomers. In February 2020, 53% of Democrats favored socialist Bernie Sanders. In August 2021, President Biden, who campaigned as a centrist, banned 10.9 million landlords from collecting rent until late fall. This summer, Black Lives Matter announced solidarity with Cuba’s communist regime.
Latino Anti-Socialists Go to Florida and Texas for a Reason
20 years ago, a commodity boom ushered in socialists and redistribution: Bolivia’s Evo Morales, Brazil’s Lula da Silva, Cuba’s Raul Castro, Ecuador’s Rafael Correa, Nicaragua’s Daniel Ortega, and Venezuela’s Hugo Chavez. A commodity crash moved the region right: Bolsonaro in Brazil, Duque in Colombia, Macri in Argentina, and Pinera in Chile. Now, COVID has revived socialists in Brazil, Chile and Colombia. Socialist Pedro Castillo just took control of Peru.
Bernie Sanders should talk to the folks fleeing Cuba and Venezuela before talking up the “good” socialists in Denmark – and that’s a red flag. In fact, Danes don’t consider themselves “socialists” and push back on Sander’s comparisons. Sanders is selling a massive social experiment, based on tiny “test markets” that bear no resemblance to the demography, economy, geography, or scale of the USA. If he’d focus on China, he’d oppose the horrors of socialism. Americans need to know.
It’s All Leninism and It Always Inflicts Misery
Whether it’s communism (property and economic resources owned by the state) or socialism (economic resources controlled by the state), individuals lose control of their families, livelihoods, and property. It’s all Leninism, because a selfish vanguard party gains and retains cultural, economic, and social control. To wit, Afro-Cubans live in the real “Jim Crow” south, Venezuelans suffer years of negative GDP growth, and Hong Kong residents can longer speak freely – and that’s right now!
Leninism gains and maintains political control by killing. Communists and socialists alike have pulled the trigger. The death toll includes 20,000,000 Russians, 65,000,000 Chinese, 1,700,000 Cambodians, 430,000 Vietnamese, 18,000 Venezuelans, and 11,000 Cubans. Red China has recently killed Christian, Falun Gong and Muslim dissidents to harvest their organs – and currently holds 1,000,000 Uyghur Muslims in slave-labor camps, aborting or sterilizing 100,000 Uyghur women (source: China Tribunal).
Beware of Today’s Virulent BioLeninism
China is proof old Leninism (class warfare) is becoming new BioLeninism (identity warfare). Perhaps, back in the day, Castro and Mao were liberators of non-white victims from colonialism, and champions of every suffering identity. Today, they punch down on out-groups. Author Louis Nevaer reports Afro-Cubans know the “idea of a post racial Cuba [is] a political platitude.” Who doesn’t know China mistreats its Muslim minority? They’re treated worse than Jews in the USSR.
Una presentation agradable – a pleasant appearance – is code in Cuba for discriminating against blacks who are too dark skinned.
Louis Nevaer
BioLeninism is on the rise at home. America’s revolutionary vanguard is The Squad and led by socialist Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, who hates the Capitol because it looks like “patriarchy and white supremacist culture.” Ilhan Omar disses Jewish members of her own party, and Rashida Tlaib hates Israel. Ayanna Pressley wants (mostly white) taxpayers to fund $10 trillion in reparations (source: CNBC). And, get this: they all think freedom of religion is a “dog whistle” for racism.
Standing against Leninism in the USA are 160 million Americans that like their private health insurance, 66% of Americans that own a home (valued at $33.6 trillion), 32% that hold private retirement assets (valued at $35.4 trillion), 71% of the country who are Christians, and 60% who say their families are all-important. It’s one thing to tell a pollster you support Bernie Sanders, and quite another to live in China, Cuba or Venezuela. It’s time to get smart.
