The Devil went down to Georgia. He was lookin’ for a soul to steal. He was in a bind ’cause he was way behind and he was lookin’ to make a deal. When Charlie Daniels wrote these lyrics in 1979, Georgia Democrats were defined by President Jimmy Carter, a political centrist and Southern Baptist. Today, the Peach State is defined by devilish Democrats and devil-may-care voter verification; proof that the only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing (Burke).

Georgia is not the blue state Stacey Abrams would have us believe. Rather, it is a modern red state that has been mishandled by Republicans; thereby opening the door for two wild-eyed liberals to win a “legal” but “unethical” victory. Stacey Abrams is the poster gal for today’s leftist electioneering, where “count every vote” actually means “conjure up enough votes” to win. After losing a “fair” election in 2018, Abrams went to work on the “far-fetched” election of 2020.

I’ll leave it to investigative committees and journalists to confirm the facts that are today conspiracy theories, and focus on what an “open and honest” election should look like – because that is the real conversation that should take place all over America. In a democratic republic, more citizen participation is better than less, but that doesn’t mean the dead get to vote in Nevada, non-residents get to vote in Georgia, or citizens get to terrorize Congress.

An open election allows every legal resident to register to vote, cast ballots, and serve as poll watchers. In 2020, some poll-watcher were denied access and, while not proof of election fraud, a judge had to order Georgia vote counters to remove obstructive signs and create more aisles in this week’s run-off. After so much discontent in November, what were the election officials thinking? In no small way, the “new electioneering” invited the citizen madness today in the nation’s capitol.

The Devil’s in the details, and vote harvesting and curing did occur in one-party precincts like Philadelphia, where Dems had real-time access to results (Trump ahead) and control over the counting process. Thus, after the polls closed, blue precincts harvested (extended deadlines) and cured (determined voter intent and identity) ballots. Having the fox in the henhouse, at the very least, is why hard-core conservatives rioted right after the Georgia run-off .

You want a peaceful transition, then ensure the governed see the governors truly and fairly elected. Georgia just smells fishy. Ossoff and Warnock may have more votes, but they go to Washington on double secret probation. Georgia still leans right, and leftist resumes ultimately invite rejection. America will now see Democrat control in action – without checks or bipartisan balance – and more regulations and taxes are tickets to slide in the polls.

In politics, there are no real losses – only hard lessons. The Georgia lesson for the GOP is twofold: (1) care as much about winning as Stacey Abrams and (2) recruit great candidates. Perhaps nothing teaches like the agony of defeat, unless it’s the shame of one’s supporters scaling the Capitol walls or acting like jackasses in the people’s house. That Devil’s a tricky guy; jumping from Georgia to Washington, and the GOP should exorcise him from their supporters.

This blog has been critical of Democrats: they have denied forgotten Americans a sympathetic ear. Republicans are not beyond reproach, and they cannot deny forgotten Americans a sensible voice. In a democratic republic, political control is fleeting: Biden isn’t dictator for life, and there is life after Trump. As a political movement, MAGA has legs that will carry the right Republicans to victory, despite what the Devil did in Dekalb or DC.
