Democrats and their media allies have wished President Trump ill will for so long, they are confused with him in hospital. Republicans pray for him, independents hope he recovers quickly, and left-wing secularists (AOC) hate that Trump’s life and the 2020 election are in God’s hands. It’s time to re-consider 2020, the words In God We Trust, and the failings of men. Above all, it is time to ignore petty back-biters like Maureen Dowd.
America’s industrial age spawned liberal secularists, who replaced God with science and gave thanks to Edison and Bezos. Sadly, Thanksgiving is now a secular holiday, in spite of being rooted in the God-given bounty that awe-inspired early Americans. The Pilgrims so appreciated this bounty, they set aside a day to give God thanks. Liberals should remember American exceptionalism began with un-matched natural resources and geography.
Let COVID remind us of our great and diverse continent. In 1918, doctors told my great aunt’s parents to let her recover in Florida. Today, millions are in “mountain air” and “sea breezes” rather than America’s crowded cities. Such freedom and independence is an American right, but not for old and immobile New Yorkers, who were sentenced by Governor Cuomo to nursing-home hot spots (and their deaths blamed on a Republican president).
Whether an act of God or Mother Nature, COVID is a wake-up call for the far left. A self-survival crisis is a bad time for Black Lives Matter (BLM) to push a self-awareness issue (bad cops). COVID has taken 40,000 black lives and put 3.5 million blacks out of work. Yet, BLM is responsible for 95% of the riots that divert police and rescue workers from assisting in a black health crisis.
President Trump (with Melania) continued his routine, and antagonists called him reckless and responsible for every death. In times of national hysteria, leaders are called upon to keep calm and carry on. King George VI remained in London (with his family) to project fearlessness in the face of Nazi bombs and V1 rockets. Of course, it’s part politics, but Trump would be wrong to urge the entire nation to cringe in selfish fear.
No true leader asks of the governed that which he is unwilling to do. Biden wanted protestors out there, but cheered from his basement. Pelosi lectured about masks and closures – until she needed a wash and blow. In contrast, Trump gathered with his constituents and urged governors to re-open businesses and classrooms. While Trump practiced what he preached, Biden and Pelosi applied a double standard. Sadly, Trump contracted COVID.
Any time a US president is in hospital is a time to put politics aside. Still, the Biden campaign sent a memo urging “no public gloating” (source: Politico), and Facebook feeds have Karma’s a bitch posts from Biden supporters. Dick Harpootlian, a Biden donor, told South Carolina media what Democrats are really thinking: “there is no joy in being right” (emphasis mine).
COVID does not excuse a great nation from carrying on, but that is what Democrats have messaged, while ignoring workers and small business owner. So – what kind of Democrats will exist after Election Day? We know the winner will inherit COVID (and no cure), a wounded economy with mounting debt, and enemies licking their chops at America’s demise. Have we seen anything in 2020 to suggest Democrats will put we the people first?
